Berlin/Spa-Francorchamps (rol/ot) Finally the German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke got points at the fifth season event of the FIA GT1 World Championship at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). Indeed the Aston Martin works driver from Berlin, that is sharing the cockpit of the DBR9 for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen) with his Dane team colleague Christoffer Nygaard, discarded at the one hour championship race on Saturday (31st of July). But at the one hour qualifying race on Friday (30th of July), at which he usually finished on place four the 28 year old advanced belated to position three and got 4 points because a car ahead of him has been taken out of the valuation.

"It has been our best placing this season so far and we got a few points but after all it has been a cold comfort", told the Berlin. "We could have been on the podium on Saturday as well. Unfortunately we had bad luck again - and there's no points for that". His team colleague Christopher Nygaard started from position three into the tenth season run, but right after the start he lost three positions and after the first lap he has been on position eight. "At the pit stop there was a problem with the right rear wheel, so they had to jack the car up two times. Of course that took a lot of time and after that I have been on track on position 14", told Stefan Mucke.

After the Berlin made up two positions being on twelve now there was a safety car phase what could have been good for him. "But then I got a penalty pit lane drive through - because I had too much speed in the pit lane after the pit stop. We now have to figure out why the speed limiter has been off that particular time. At the beginning of the drive through we decided to end this race because it would have been for nothing to drive somewhere far behind the whole peloton", explains Stefan Mucke. Winners of the race on Saturday have been Ricardo Zonta/Frank Kechele (Brasil/Germany) in the Reiter-Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV. On Friday the winners have been the Netherlands Xavier Maassen and Jos Menten in a Corvette Z06.

The second season half of the GT1 World Championship starts with a home game for the Berlin Stefan Mucke. Because the races eleven ad twelve are scheduled for 27th to 29th of August at the Nurburgring.
