A Satisfying 3rd Place Win For Bobbi in Zhuhai

The last round of the FIA GT championship in Zhuhai, China this weekend was nothing less than exciting. This was the first time the prestigious championship set foot in China and so many of its drivers had never raced on Zhuhai International Circuit before. Matteo Bobbi was no exception. Matteo Bobbi's first experience in Zhuhai turned out to be quite satisfying even if he cut the finish line in 3rd place. Matteo had a good feeling about the weekend right from the start. In fact; Matteo was second after the first free practice session and was also confirmed as the pole position winner. Matteo and his BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello started from the front row of the grid for the 500 km race and started ahead of the two Maserati MC 12 cars.

During his first stint of the race, Matteo solidly kept the lead and had a 10 second gap from the Maserati MC 12 cars .But unfortunately the 2 Maserati Cars snatched the lead after Bobbi and Gardel had a few problems with their brakes. The car's brakes were worn out and so it was difficult for the driver from Milan to keep up with his adversaries.

Bobbi was in the hunt for podium finishes and great results this season and at the end of the 2004 season, Matteo can say that that's exactly what he got.

Matteo bobbi

"I obviously came to Zhuhai with the intention of winning the final round of the season but unfortunately things didn't go the way I wanted .Nonetheless, I do not want to complain because I had a very good weekend. I was in the lead for the first hour of the race and that was quite an endeavour seeing that I had to fight off the Maserati cars. In the end, they conquered the 1st and 2nd place on the podium but at least I made them sweat for it. My team-mate and I fought throughout the whole race and so the 3rdplace on the podium isn't so bad. We could have brought home the victory, had it not been for our worn out brakes and for a 20 second pit stop that we could not avoid. The season is over and although I wasn't able to keep the "world champion" title, the season went well. I am happy with what I accomplished. I would like to thank all of my sponsors, Michelin, Prodrive and everyone who stood by my side this year. Without them, none of this would be possible."
