Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Challenge Canada

Driving his No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports/Castrol, Western Canadian Scott Hargrove won his seventh and eighth victories of the season in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama at GP3R. Zacharie Robichon (No. 98 Mark Motors Racing 911 GT3 Cup car) and Michael De Quesada (No. 31 Alegra Motorsports) finished both races in second and third place, respectively. Both races were hotly disputed, but no one could beat Hargrove who never put a foot wrong all weekend.

IMSA Prototype Challenge

Kyle Mason planted his Elan DP02 LMP3 on pole position with a time of 1:07.798. The first race was held on Sunday morning on the track that was still slippery from the night’s rain. Kenton Koch won the race aboard his Ligier JSP3 ahead of Gary Gibson (MPC Elan DP02) and Colin Thompson (Norma M30). Canadian Stefan Rzadzinski, driving a LMP3 car for the first time, finished fifth. Kenton Koch went on to win Race 2 on Sunday, beating Colin Thompson and Stefan Rzadzinski. Kyle Mason came home in fourth place.

Raphaël Lessard takes third place at Flat Rock

Young Toyota Racing Development driver Raphaël Lessard captured a third-place finish in the 125-lap CRA Series Level Pebble 200 race held at Flat Rock Speedway, in Flat Rock, Michigan Saturday night. The teenager was awarded the third-place finish after the car belonging to race winner, Scott Hantz was disqualified on tech inspection for having an illegal suspension.

Lessard lined up tenth on the starting grid in his No. 99 Toyota Camry FRL Express/Toyota-TRD/JBL Audio. He lost a few spots early in the race but then made it to 9th place. An adjustment made to the car during a yellow on lap 78 that allowed Lessard to make up valuable positions and to lead the race before being pushed off his line and dropped back to fifth place. With less than a dozen laps remaining, Lessard was able to gain one position before the chequered flag was waved.

“The change we made to the car really helped and I got onto my line and began moving,” Lessard explained. “I was able to get by everyone straight to the front of the field. But there was a lot of bumping happening and I was pushed to the outside line and dropped back. But I am very happy with the way we ended this race and this week.”

Raphaël Forcier places third place in wild race

Raphaël Forcier claimed a third place finish in Round 4 of the US Formula 4 Championship at Mid-Ohio. Rain came before the start of the race, and while several competitors opted for slick tires, Forcier decided to race on rain tires. Forcier made it to third place when his team called him in for slicks during a full course caution. The young Canadian sliced through the field and finished third. Having scored top 5 finishes in Friday’s and Saturday’s races, Forcier now appears in second place in the overall standings.

Second place for Nick Wittmer in Utah

ST Racing’s drivers Nick Wittmer [BMW M235iR] and Samantha Tan finished respectively ninth and 23rd in Race 1 of the TC class of the Pirelli World Challenge the Utah Motorsport Campus. Both drivers experienced mechanical problem dues to the intense heat. A few hours later, Race 2 was underway with a wild incident in Turn 1 just after the green flag. Tan had a great start, but the incident caused her to get hit from behind and sadly ended her race on the first lap. Wittmer went from seventh place to third at the start of the race, and barely managed to avoid getting caught in the incident. After the re-start, Wittmer’s driving was all about protecting his third place while trying to battle for second. On Lap 16, Wittmer made his move on his rival to capture second place, with just a few minutes left in the race.
