Change Racing/Lamborghini Carolinas and the No. 29 Lamborghini Super Trofeo with driver Kevin Conway (above) look to carry the team's momentum from Sebring International Raceway into Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Raceway. With a win and a second-place finish at the opening rounds at Sebring, Kevin Conway holds a 5 point-lead in the driver point standings, while Change Racing holds a seven-point lead in the team point standings. The IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series will compete in two 50-minute events at the historic 2.2 mile-course on Saturday, May 2 for Round Three of the season championship as well as Sunday, May 4 for Round Four.
The first two circuits for the IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series could not be anymore different, with Sebring International Raceway being a 3.7 mile course with no elevation changes, and long straightaways that produced extremely high speeds. Laguna Seca Raceway is a much shorter course (2.2 miles) with over 180 feet of elevation changes and 11 turns including the world famous 'corkscrew,' a five-story elevation drop that twists from the first apex left, instantly dropping steeply downhill to a switchback right.
This will be Conway's and Change Racing's first trip to Laguna Seca Raceway. The team will only have a combined 80 minutes of practice to get acclimated to the historic course built in 1957. This has not presented a problem in the past for Conway, as he was faced with the same hurdle at Sebring with the rest of his competition having more experience.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back to the racetrack after a long break in the schedule, to bring this kind of momentum into such a historic venue as Laguna Raceway is really encouraging," said Conway. "Everyone here at Change Racing is working extremely hard preparing the No. 29 Lamborghini Super Trofeo and we went testing to prepare for this event as my crew chief Matt Lucas wanted to try a new combination coming into Laguna Seca."
Founded in 2013, Change Racing competes in the IMSA Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series. Change Racing also provides trackside support, engineering and program management for the Lamborghini dealer network throughout North America. Successful real estate developer and Lamborghini Carolinas CEO Eddie Littlefield, along with NASCAR team owner Robby Benton, and 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year Kevin Conway joined forces to compete for the 2013 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series World Championship. Kevin Conway is the team's lead driver.
