Bryce Miller led every lap of the sixth round of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge at Road Atlanta to notch his first victory of the season. Driving the Marquis Jet Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, Miller was dominant in the race in which he started from the pole. Miller's qualifying time of 1:26.974 was .402 faster than his Farnbacher Loles teammate Shawn Price who started besides Miller on the front row. Dino Loles driving a 996 GT3 Cup had the 996 Class pole and started in 8th overall with a 1:28.977. It was Dino's 6th straight 996 pole and like Miller, led every lap in class to notch his 6th straight victory.
Miller never put a wheel wrong while the battle ensued behind him. Shawn Price was looking like he would grab another podium finish, when with 2laps to go, his Savvion/Centennial Motorsports 997 lost the left rear tire at the one of the fastest turns of the track. Coming down the hill into turn 12, Price's tire let go, which spun him violently into the tire barrier causing extensive damage to the car. Price was shaken up and appears to have suffered some broken ribs in the crash but promises to be back for the final race at Laguna Seca.
But the day belonged to Miller and Loles. The 2 young drivers beamed from the podium for good reason. Miller finally got the well-deserved win, and Loles with his win locked up the season championship in the 996 class.
