GT3: Farnbacher Loles Racing race report

Imery grabs pole, Aschenbach 2nd at Mid-Ohio

May, 22-Lexington, Ohio -- The Farnbacher Loles Racing team has made a strong impression at the 2nd round of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Michelin. In qualifying for Sunday's sprint race, Ricardo Imery posted a scorching 1:26.759 lap to pace the field. Imery was consistent throughout the practice sessions, where he also led the field. Following Ricardo was another Farnbacher Loles racer, Lawson Aschenbach, whose 1:27.316 lap was good enough for 2nd place. Showing great team depth, Farnbacher Loles had 6 racers in the top 8. In 4th place was Tom Pank, followed by Keith Alexander in 5th, Shawn Price in 7th and Paul Orwicz in 8th.

After his pole effort, Imery said, "I'm very excited to have captured the pole. Horst (Farnbacher), Thomas Haugg and the whole team have worked hard to give me a great car. I'm glad I can bring this result to this organization. I will do my best to bring home the first place trophy."

Team principal Greg Loles said, "Ricardo did a great job today. He really showed what a talented racer he is. I'm very proud of the whole team, the drivers, the crew, everyone. With the level of competition in this field, it is quite an accomplishment for us to have this many drivers near the front."

Other Farnbacher Loles drivers making the start on Sunday are Mike Piera in 15th, Russell Smith in 17th, and Gennady Soykher in 21st. The Mid-Ohio race will be held at 3:15 pm eastern time.
