FAIETA WINS SECOND IMSA GT3 CUP CHALLENGE PRESENTED BY MICHELIN; CLOSER TO SCARDINA IN POINTS CHASE AFTER SIX RACES; POLE-SITTER DINO LOLES FINISHES FOURTH

Bob Faieta, from Tujunga, Calif., took the lead on the restart from a yellow flag on lap six, and piloted his CareLevel Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup to victory in the 45-minute IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Michelin at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Faieta, who won round three at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City and was second in both rounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway weekend, didn't wish points leader Charles Scardina any problems, but was not unhappy when he saw that Scardina had a flat tire on lap one and had to come into the pits for a tire change.

"We want to race everyone heads up, but we really needed the points," said Faieta, who cut Scardina's points lead from 27 to 14. Scardina, with the aid of a couple of yellow flags and some nifty driving, came from the back of the pack after his tire problems to finish seventh, earning nine points for his efforts.

Tom Pank, from Walkersville, Maryland, finished second -- his highest finish in the series -- and now stands third in the points in his Farnbacher Loles Porsche.

"I tried to catch Faieta a couple of times, but my tires would heat up and I had to back off. He was just far enough ahead of me that I couldn't quite keep contact," said Pank, who has run all three years of this young series.

Third-place finisher Wade Carter, from Woodinville, Wash., driving the CiraSport Racing Porsche, scored his first podium finish, crossing the finish line third after two fourth-place finishes.

"Knowing Dino Loles was right behind me was a lot of pressure, but everyone was racing clean and we are thrilled with the results," said Carter, who is now in fourth place in the standings, one point behind Pank.
