Pecorari eyes Championship with dominant Lime Rock run

After an extended break in the IMSA-Lites championship, Adam Pecorari took advantage of the time off to refocus his efforts towards a championship. That focus allowed the Aston, PA driver to again sweep the weekend rounds and now has won five out of six events this season. The only non-win coming in round-Two of the Championship from a mechanical malfunction while in the lead. Pecorari has also controlled the grid all season by sweeping six out of six pole positions in his impressive run.

Leading the only practice of the event, Pecorari took the #2 Van Diemen Elan Cape Motorsports/Hankook Tires entry to pole by 1.4 seconds. Utilizing a great start, Adam built a good lead up to the first and only yellow flag of the race and would again pull away to win by a dominating 21.5 seconds over his next competitor. "It was a good race for the Cape Motorsports car," explained Pecorari. "The car was handling very well and the Hankook tires worked perfectly throughout the race."

Starting Race #2 again from pole position, Adam and his engineers decided to make some significant changes to the car and try to learn a bit more about the machine. The old adage, you learn from your mistakes, rang true on this day. The direction taken with the car went to a way the team did not expect and Adam had his hands full throughout the race. Although the Championship leading driver did pull off the win, it was the closest race of the year as Pecorari won by a mere 2.1 seconds. "We wanted to use the session as a test in a way and try to learn all we could in the weekend," Pecorari said after the race. "Road America will be a huge race with over 40 entrants, and we want to be on top of our game. We did learn a lot this weekend and will go to the next race looking for two more wins."

Rounds Seven and Eight of the Imsa-Lites Championship will be the Generac 500 at Road America August 19-20, in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series.
