Another IMSA Lites Sweep for Pecorari at Road Atlanta

ASTON, PA (October 1, 2006) - Adam Pecorari and the Cape Motorsports team arrived at Road Atlanta for the last event of the season carrying the #1 number plate on their machine courtesy of clinching the IMSA Lites Championship at the previous event.

Pecorari clinched the Championship by winning seven of the first eight races and dominating every aspect of the series. There was no thought of taking it easy at the final race though, despite having the Championship in hand, as the team was determined to put an exclamation point on their season.

By the end of the weekend there was little doubt why this potent combination was crowned Champion as Pecorari won both races for a remarkable nine wins in ten races over the course of the season. The Aston, PA driver noted that his race car was perfect once again and gave credit to not only his team but the entire package that made this a nearly perfect season.

"Thanks again to Cape Motorsports for giving me a fantastic racecar for another event. The Elan DB-02 is the best car right now and we proved that again this weekend. I would like to thank everyone that made this year possible. Cape Motorsports, Van Diemen Elan, Hankook Tires, John Baytos from Formula Motorsports and Tim Mayer & Scott Atherton from IMSA for the IMSA Lites idea."

While the race wins are impressive and receive the most attention at the end of the day, the finer details of the event show just how truly dominant the Pecorari/Cape pairing was. The team led every practice session and earned the Pole position in qualifying as well as leading from flag to flag in each race with winning margins exceeding ten seconds both times.

"It is great to win here in front of all of the American Le Mans Series teams. That is where I am hoping to end up, and to win here in this fashion is fantastic."

With the IMSA Lites racers competing alongside the American Le Mans Series at Road Atlanta, this was the kind of performance that Adam was hoping for to hopefully draw more attention to the success he and the Cape Motorsports team experienced all season long.

"The IMSA Lites Series is a great program that allows drivers like myself to showcase our abilities in front of the American Le Mans teams and drivers and try to make a name for ourselves. Hopefully I can use the Championship as a catapult into a full ride in the ALMS next year."
