Lites: Cape Motorsports Mid-Ohio race two notes

Pecorari, McBreen and Spicer Repeat in the Rain at Mid-Ohio

Lexington, Ohio (May 21, 2006) - Rising American sportscar stars Adam Pecorari, Dan McBreen and Richard Spicer all repeated their IMSA Lites wins in L1, L2 and L3 respectively at Mid-Ohio under very slick and difficult conditions.

After a weekend plagued with cold and wet weather, an early morning shower soaked the 2.258-mile racing surface yet again. Like yesterday, Pecorari took an easy lead into the first corner as several other positions were exchanged behind him. The only full course yellow flag period of the race came out when the #24 of Eric Vassian spun out of contention on the second lap.

Also on the second lap, Spicer got on the power too quickly and spun exiting the keyhole turn which dropped him back to second position in the L3 class. Despite the setback, Spicer was able to retake the class lead with a strong pass at the end of the backstretch.

"That was quite an exciting race," Spicer said. "The track was so slick, but I raced here before they had the concrete patches (which were removed during the repaving project) in Spec Racer Ford and the new rain line was similar to that, right along the grass."

In the L2 class, McBreen was able to hold off Mark White to take the win for PVM Motorsports. All of the drivers agreed that the freshly paved racing surface was their toughest competitor.

"We had a good race, but the track was so greasy," said Pecorari, following his third win out of four races this season. "It wasn't that it was really wet, but there just wasn't any grip. I just tried to stay consistent and built a lead so we could try a couple of things with this new car. I'd like to thank Hankook Tires, Van Diemen Elan and Jon Baytos again for their support."

McBreen, who's fastest race lap was only three tenths of a second slower than the faster L1 car of Pecorari at 1:52.950, echoed those remarks.

"Growing up in Chicago, my ice skating and snow skiing skills really came in handy today, it was really slick out there," McBreen said.

The next round of the IMSA Lites Championship presented by Hankook will take place June 30 - July 1 at Lime Rock Park in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series.
