Pecorari, McBreen and Spicer take top spots at Lime Rock Race #1

Lakeville, CT (July 1, 2006) - Adam Pecorari, Dan McBreen and Richard Spicer added to their impressive winning streaks in the first of two IMSA Lites races at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut today.

In what is becoming his typical fashion, Pecorari took a commanding lead at the start and won his fifth L1 class race out of six this season and forth in a row. In the process, the Cape Motorsports driver also set the fastest lap of the race, circulating the 1.54-mile eight-turn road course in 54.443 seconds, which was even faster than his pole time from yesterday.

"It was another great run, we're getting quicker and hat's off to Cape Motorsports, Hankook Tires and Van Diemen elan, I think we have a great package," Pecorari said. "The Hankook tires are working great, I was able to just get quicker and quicker as the race went on, it's awfully hard to find any kind of tire that will do that."

After losing a position to his PVM Motorsports teammate, Paul Parker, at the start of the 30 minute timed event, Dan McBreen recovered and captured his third L2 class win in a row. McBreen retook the top spot after Parker experienced a mechanical problem following a brief full course caution to retrieve the stalled car driven by Charlie Shears.

"I was able to get by Paul on the restart when he had a mechanical problem," said McBreen. "After that, I just tried to run a good pace and bring it home."

Perhaps the best contest on the track was between Richard Spicer and Chris Funk for top honors in the L3 category. The pair stayed in close contact throughout the race as they worked through traffic, all while running in the midst of a pack of the faster L2 machinery.

"My brake pedal went soft on me while I was running with the L2 cars, so I just let them go by and let off for a while to cool the brakes and it came back to me," said Spicer, who also maintained his perfect record of three starts and three wins for Team Spicer Hagerman.

The IMSA Lites competitors will take the grid for their second and final race of the New England Grand Prix weekend later this afternoon. The starting grid will be set by the driver's best lap time from the first race.
