Robichon dominates Porsche GT3 Cup Canada races at CTMP
Zacharie Robichon won both races of the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama held at CTMP.
Saturday’s Race 1
Zacharie Robichon took victory in Race 1 of the Canadian Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, Round 3 of this year’s championship.
Robichon, in the No. 98 Mark Motors Racing Porsche, was pushed hard until the finish by Remo Ruscitti, the driver of the No. 96 OpenRoad Racing 911. A narrow margin of just .039 seconds separated them at the line.
Roman De Angelis, in the No. 78 Mark Motors Racing machine, came home third, just 1,1” behind the winner.
Cup newcomer Stefan Rzadzinski (No. 8 DFC Motorsport) finished the wet, 12-lap race in fourth position ahead of Jeff Kingsley and Michael Di Meo. Eleven competitors participated in the race.
Sunday’s Race 2
Zacharie Robichon started from the pole and immediately pulled away from Roman De Angelis and Remo Ruscutti. A fantastic battle quickly developed over fourth place between six cars.
After 20 minutes of racing, Rzadzinski spun after making a slight contact with the Porsche of Michael Di Meo.
After 45 minutes, the order was Robichon, De Angelis, Ruscitti, Patrick Dussault and Jeff Kinglsey.
A full course yellow regrouped the field. At the green, Robichon powered into the lead again followed by his teammate De Angelis and Ruscutti.
Despite De Angelis efforts, Robichon crossed the line in first place and won his second race of the weekend.
