Obviously we would have liked to qualify on pole, but from third place we can see the front...
Christian Fittipaldi
For Fittipaldi the third place qualifying effort was a relief after a close call in the final practice session.
"We made slight contact with the wall in Turn 6," said Fittipaldi. "Fortunately the guys on the team were able to repair the damage and the car performed flawlessly in qualifying. I think our Mustang Sampling Corvette DP is going to be solid in the race and we have a good starting position to chase our second consecutive win.
"Obviously we would have liked to qualify on pole, but from third place we can see the front and we'll capitalize on every opportunity throughout the race to put ourselves in a position to win."
Teammate Eric Curran echoed Fittipaldi's excitement for Saturday's race after posting the fifth fastest time of the session.
"We've got an excellent Whelen Corvette DP," said Curran. "Dane was fastest in the first session, and then I was third in the second session, we were hoping for a top-3 starting position but we can certainly still get the win from fifth. Everyone on the team has done a fantastic job all weekend. We unloaded with speed and it feels like we're in great shape for the Tequila Patrón Sports Car Showcase tomorrow."
