Alex Job, WeatherTech locked and loaded for Road America

WeatherTech Racing is ready for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. to run Aug 8-10. 

Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Leh Keen (Charleston, SC) have moved up from third to second in the TUDOR Championship GTD point standings. They trail ex-AJR drivers Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell by just nine points. WeatherTech Racing considers the four-mile, 14-turn natural terrain road course located 30-minutes north of Milwaukee in Elkhart Lake, Wis. their home circuit. The team has had success there in the past. MacNeil posted a win in the American Le Mans Series GTC Class in 2012 and drove to a second place finish last year. Keen was on pole for last year's race. 

"Road America is my home track and one of my favorites," MacNeil said. "We won there two years ago in the American Le Mans GTC Class and took second last year. Our WeatherTech Porsche should be quick this weekend so I'm looking forward to pushing hard to be back on that podium. My favorite part of the track is The Kink because it really challenges you to go faster through there every lap. The GTD Class is very competitive and you really have to have a near perfect run to be on the podium let alone win. Our goal this weekend will be to have that perfect run." 

Keen has had success at Road America 

"Road America is considered one of America's great tracks and it no doubt is," Keen said. "The first thing you notice when you drive it is the long straights. Three of them actually, and that makes this track fast! The AJR Porsche will be good on the long straights because it has less drag than most of the other cars. The Flat Six is dynamite engine and the high speed corners will be good for us also. Last year I was on pole in the ROLEX race there and Cooper and WeatherTech have had a ton of success in Professional and Club events at that track as well. We have moved from third to second in the championship points since Indy and we hope to move up one more again and take the lead by Sunday afternoon at Road America." 

Alex Job, team owner, has high hopes for the weekend. 

"With the tight points race in GTD it is time that we put one in the win column," Job said. "Road America is where we have performed very well in the past. Cooper and Leh both really like the track and we need to start putting consistent top finishes together as we are in the last third of the season."
