Sébastien Bourdais will return to Action Express Racing in 2015 determined to win back-to-back Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cups (NAEC). Bourdais returns after the successful 2014 campaign in which he was the team's third driver for three of the four NAEC races.
"It is very exciting to be able to return with Action Express Racing in 2015," said Bourdais. "Having teammates with the credentials of João Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi is an opportunity you seldom receive in racing, and one I cherish. Hopefully we will repeat as the NAEC champions, and start by returning to Victory Lane in the Rolex 24 at Daytona as we did last season."
Bourdais will again co-drive the Action Express Racing No. 5 entry at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 63rd annual 12 Hours of Sebring, and conclude the season at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in October.
Bourdais brings an impressive racing resume to Action Express Racing including four consecutive Champ Car titles, Formula 1 experience and three runner up finishes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
'Tremendous asset'
Bourdais is a proven champion and was a tremendous asset to Action Express in claiming their second Rolex 24 victory and winning the overall 2014 Tudor United SportsCar Championship in addition to the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.
"I am extremely pleased to have Sébastien back at Action Express Racing for the North American Endurance events next season," said Bob Johnson, (team owner) Action Express Racing. "Having a driver of Sébastien's caliber puts Action Express Racing in a great spot to claim the endurance title, as well as the Tudor United SportsCar Championship again in 2015. Sébastien is a tremendous talent, and he is a great person to have in the Action Express Racing family."
Bourdais earned Action Express Racing's first pole of the 2014 season in qualifying for the 12 Hours of Sebring. Action Express Racing finished on the podium in every NAEC event last season with Bourdais contributing to three of the four podium finishes.
