Michael Shank Racing is preparing for an 11th consecutive season in Daytona Prototype competition, with the team retaining full-season pilots John Pew and Ozz Negri for 2014. The team will campaign a brand new powerplant this year, as the Ford EcoBoost motor is set make its IMSA competition debut in the 2014 Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 25-26.

“CRC Industries is excited to partner with Michael Shank Racing as the official chemical supplier to the Daytona Prototype team for the 2014 season,” said Julie Williams, Product Manager for CRC Industries.

CRC Industries, a specialty chemical manufacturing company best known for industry-leading CRC Brakleen® Brake Parts Cleaner, found a natural partner in Michael Shank Racing.

“Race teams push their vehicles to extremes, and CRC quality maintenance chemicals are proven to withstand the demands and rigors of racing,” said Williams, who also manages the motorsports program for the company. “We’ll support Michael Shank Racing with everything from cleaners and degreasers to greases and gear oils; CRC has a product for every chemical need.”

The connection between what consumers can buy and the products that will be put to the test on tracks from Watkins Glen International to Sebring International Raceway is one that is relevant for both Ford and CRC as both commit to the IMSA TUDOR Championship for 2014. The EcoBoost racing motor shares a high percentage of native parts with the same motor that the public can purchase in the Ford Taurus SHO. The new EcoBoost has already had an impact on the record books, with Michael Shank Racing setting a new track record at Daytona International Speedway in October.

“MSR is the perfect partner to help CRC promote our new product, CRC GDI IVD™ Intake Valve Cleaner, a unique product in the marketplace specifically designed to clean carbon build up from the backs of intake valves,” said Williams. “With the new MSR 3.5-liter V6 Ford EcoBoost direct injection engine making its competition debut for the season at Daytona, it’s great timing because intake valve deposits can be prevalent in direct injection engines, and we can help.

“We’re looking forward to kicking off our partnership with Michael Shank Racing and continuing to support the automotive industry through motorsports sponsorship.”

“We are thrilled to partner with CRC Industries and are proud to be carrying their colors on the No. 60 car in 2014,” said team owner Mike Shank. “This is going to be a very exciting year, and to be kicking off this new era with a new partnership that is going to help on both the marketing side and the technical side, it is really exciting and we can’t wait to get going.”

The inaugural TUDOR Championship opens with the 52nd Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 25-26, 2014.
