Houston, Texas, 4 April 2014. The only full-time Ferrari GTLM entrant, Risi Competizione, has had the most extraordinary and unfortunate of starts to its 2014 season. The Houston-based team now though plans to re-set back to zero, put the incidents and accidents of Daytona and Sebring firmly behind it, and start the season afresh.

Thanks to the indefatigable efforts of the whole Risi team, the No.62 Risi F458 Italia is once again pristine and ready for action at Round 3 of the United Sportscar Championship. The Ferrari will be competing against the factory entries from BMW, Corvette, Porsche and Viper – the 10 entrants in GTLM being part of the 22-strong field around the scenic streets of Long Beach, California.

Driving the Ferrari will be Italian Giancarlo Fisichella, who brings a wealth of experience and race-winning expertise with him and needs little introduction to worldwide GT audiences. He will be paired in Long Beach with a newcomer to Risi and Ferrari, 25-year-old Dane Cameron.

Giuseppe Risi said of his new recruit: “I’m delighted to welcome Dane to Risi. He’s a talented young man and has been on our radar for some time and, through the unfortunate set of circumstances which we don’t need to dwell on, we have found ourselves able to offer him this opportunity to drive for us at Long Beach. For the moment it’s just a one-off, and we’ll have to see how things progress from there.”

The 2013 ALMS LMPC Champion from Glen Allen, California has been racing in sports cars since 2009 and enjoyed considerable success in every area in which he’s raced. He was also a standout in GTD in the 12 Hours of Sebring, claiming class pole position and fastest lap on his way to 7th in class. Cameron briefly tested the Risi Ferrari in Texas before heading to California and is excited about the opportunity facing him.

Dane Cameron: “I am so excited to be racing with Risi Competizione at Long Beach. The red #62 Ferrari is such an iconic car, one that every driver dreams of an opportunity to race. Giuseppe Risi runs a first class team that has been pushing forward despite a really difficult time recently. It will be very cool to share a car with Giancarlo Fisichella and learn from his experience in the F458 Italia GTLM.

“I can't thank Mr Risi and his team enough for having the confidence to bring me into the team at the last minute for this event. I can't wait for the weekend to start!”
