Daytona 24 Hours: Hr16 - Cadillac, Ford back in control

There wasn't action at all in the sixteenth hour of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, due to yet another weather conditions yellow that lasted the entire hour.

Prototype

Despite no green-flag racing, there is still something to talk about at the front of the field. Wayne Taylor leads Visit Florida, but the noteworthy item involved Action Express ... The No. 5 Cadillac is back on the lead lap.

The yellow has lasted well over an hour with no indication that a green-flag is near. IMSA tweeted the following at the end of the hour: 

 

This caution has lasted so long, they needed to change the Safety Car because the original was running low on fuel.

 

GTLM

Ford has retaken the lead in the GTLM division, courtesy of Dirk Mueller in the No. 66. In fact, Mueller is all the way up in fifth overall, six laps back of WTR. Corvette pit the No. 3 late in the hour for a change of front brakes, but still holds the runner-up position over the No. 69 CGR Ford GT.

GTD

The No. 86 Michael Shank Racing Acura leads the way with Ozz Negri at the wheel, followed by the No. 33 Riley Motorsports –Team AMG Mercedes and the sister No. 93 MSR Acura.

Prototype Challenge remains a dull affair with the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports entry two laps ahead of the No. 20 BAR1 machine.
