Bowmanville, Ont. – Panoz DeltaWing Racing finished seventh in today’s race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, the seventh round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix started relatively uneventfully and Katherine Legge quickly made her way through the PC car traffic that had started in front of her. With a short pit for fuel and tires on lap 39, Legge remained in the car for a second stint, achieving the DeltaWing’s best lap time of the race weekend 1:12.616 on lap 43.

Just under 90 minutes in, Sean Rayhall took over while the track was under a full course yellow. He continued a strong run through the field before an incident five minutes before the end caused him to go into the Turn 3 tire wall. Rayhall managed to bring the DeltaWing back to the pit and after a quick inspection returned to the track to take the checkered flag in seventh.

The Panoz DeltaWing Racing team returns to Braselton to prepare the DeltaWing for the upcoming race at Road America on August 7.

Quoteboard

Katherine Legge: “It was a difficult race for us. We will go back to the drawing board and re-base the line in preparation for Road America, which traditionally has been a good track for the DeltaWing.”

Tim Keene: “It was a tough weekend as we never got the balance of the car as good as we would have liked and therefore we struggled all weekend. However, the team performed very well and I’m proud of the work that they did. Hoping for much better results at Road America.”

Sean Rayhall: “Not an easy weekend for the team. It was an unfortunate incident at the end. As I tried to avoid the Lamborghini, the brakes locked up and I hit the tire wall. The team did a great job this weekend and I look forward to Elkhart Lake next month.”
