SANTA ANA, Calif. - With the entire crew at Global Motorsports Group (GMG) at full tilt until this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, the team is prepared and ready for their debut in the all-new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

Following a successful test in early January that saw the No. 32 GMG Audi R8 LMS set times within the top ten, the team has been hard at work. With team personnel tearing down and checking every nut and bolt on the car, GMG team owner James Sofronas is proud of his men.

“Whatever happens this weekend, the guys will be the stars of this show,” stated Sofronas. “Everything here has been new: a new series, a new format of racing, and they’ve been remarkable in how they’ve stepped up to be prepared. We want this to be a great experience for Alex, and so far I believe we’re on course to do that. It’s tough to say how this weekend will unfold, but we certainly can’t say it was for lack of effort.”

With long-time team member Alex Welch joining for his first ever Rolex 24, the Colorado resident feels equally prepared.

“It’s a dream come true to drive at Daytona this weekend,” stated Welch. “GMG has done an excellent job getting prepared, and I hope we can maximize on our potential. There’s no doubt the crew is prepared, and with James, Marc and Frank behind the wheel, we have as good of a chance as anyone.”

Coming off of a strong 2013 season, in which GMG took three victories in route to a runner-up finish in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Championship, not to mention a Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series World Title and North American Team Championship, Daytona will set the tone for a very promising 2014 season. With this weekend’s Rolex 24 kicking off the team’s entry in the Patron North American Endurance Championship, GMG looks to start strong.
