Continental Tire and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced an extension of their multi-year partnership in which Continental Tire will continue as “Official Tire of IMSA” through 2018.

As part of the agreement, Continental Tire will continue as the Official Tire of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and exclusive tire supplier and sponsor to the Prototype (P), Prototype Challenge (PC) and Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) classes. Continental Tire also will continue as entitlement sponsor and exclusive tire supplier to the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

“We are extremely proud to continue our partnership with IMSA,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire.  “We are committed to the growth and success of sports car racing in America and we are happy to continue our dedication to giving drivers, teams and manufacturers a tire with the best technologies that they can depend on every lap. It’s an honor to work with the best drivers, teams and fans in racing. We look forward to many more miles of side-by-side racing over the next several years.”

“We are very pleased to extend our relationship with Continental Tire,” said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett. “As we continue to build the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, it is vital to have enthusiastic partners to help us grow the sport. Continental Tire has been, and will continue to be one of our most active and supportive partners.”

Continental Tire will continue to use its exclusive racing tire from its ExtremeContactTM line of tires.  Continental has incorporated a variety of technologies into a tire that is durable and provides the performance that professional teams and drivers demand, and have come to trust.  Continental Tire will continue to provide full, first-class at-track support at all TUDOR Championship and Continental Tire Challenge events as well.

Logo, marketing placement

As part of the agreement, Continental Tire will continue to receive logo placement on cars in classes where its tires are used. Continental Tire also will activate at-track via hospitality, signage, event entitlements and other marketing initiatives; along with support for the series off-track through a variety of promotions, marketing events and TV.

Continental Tire debuted as entitlement sponsor and exclusive tire supplier for the Continental Tire Challenge in 2010. In 2011, the global company became the official tire of GRAND-AM as well as exclusive tire supplier to both the Continental Tire Challenge and Rolex Sports Car Series.

At the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida, in March of 2013, Continental Tire debuted as the presenting sponsor and exclusive tire provider for the Prototype Challenge class in the American Le Mans Series.
