Joey Hand to join Pruett, replace Rojas at Ganassi?

Joey Hand recently parted ways with BMW, for whom he was a factory driver and had competed with in DTM for the last three years. He also made appearances in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, usually at the prominent endurance races on the schedule.

A future with Ganassi?

Despite the news, the American racer seemed optimistic about his future and if the rumors turn out to be true, he has good reason to be. It is believed that Hand will join forces with American sports car legend Scott Pruett at Chip Ganassi Racing, piloting a Ford Riley DP. Hand races with Ganassi as Pruett's co-driver occasionally in the past, giving this rumor some solid footing. In fact, they won the 2011 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona together.

TUSC and Grand-Am combined, Pruett has 44 victories and an impressive five championships since his full-time participation in 2004. Beside him since 2007 was Memo Rojas and the two enjoyed incredible success together.

However, a Hand/Pruett pairing would leave the 31-year-old Mexican as the odd man out after seven years as Pruett's co-driver, possibly still showing up for events such as the Rolex 24 and Sebring. 

A strong American pairing

An all-American driver line-up would obviously be appealing to Ford and what a combination that would be. Both drivers have experience in GT at Le Mans, open-wheel cars, Daytona Prototypes, and V8 Supercars. On top of that, Hand has three years of DTM under his belt and Pruett has over 50 starts in the top two divisions of NASCAR.
