Krohn Racing after 6-hours of Rolex 24 at Daytona

Krohn Racing started the 52nd Annual Rolex 24 At Daytona from the ninth position in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, after Scotsman Peter Dumbreck qualified the team's Ferrari F458 during Thursday's qualifying session. Long-time Krohn Racing driver and Rolex 24 veteran Nic Jönsson was the starting driver for the legendary 24-hour race.

Just four laps into the race, Jönsson pitted for an unscheduled pit stop after the car's rear tire suffered a puncture and the team lost a lap to the class leader.

After a full-course caution almost immediately following the first Krohn pit stop, the remainder of Jönsson's first stint went smoothly. Team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn took over piloting the Prancing Horse on Lap 37 and drove a single stint. After one hour and six minutes in the car, Krohn surrendered driving duties to Ferrari factory driver and Krohn Racing newcomer, Andrea Bertolini. Thirty minutes into Bertolini's double stint, the race was red-flagged due to an on-track incident. The field sat on track under the red flag for nearly an hour before going green again, and Bertolini pitted and handed over the car to Dumbreck for a double stint.

"The car was pretty good. The problem was just that my right foot kept getting caught on the steering column. We changed the ergonomics of the car, and my foot kept falling asleep. We're getting that issue sorted and should be in good shape once that's taken care of."

NIC JONSSON, Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"We obviously got a slow puncture in the rear tire at the beginning of my stint and had to come into the pits to put new tires on and we lost a lap. Then the full course yellow came out and for some reason we never got the wave by. I think the overall leader must not have pitted, so we didn't get to take advantage of that. Otherwise, the car runs well, everything works mechanically fine on the car, it's just that we're slow in a straight line, so we're a sitting duck basically. We just have to stay out of trouble and keep our concentration and keep plugging away."

ANDREA BERTOLINI, Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"The car was good and felt quite balanced. In the infield we are quick, but the problem is on the straights. We have a lot of drag. We try to do our best but we lose a lot on the straights. We're going to try something different, and we will see how it shapes up."
