Krohn Racing qualified in the 11th position at Laguna Seca

This was Tracy Krohn's first time this season taking over qualifying duties for the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

Krohn Racing qualified in the 11th position at Laguna Seca

Qualifying for the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix powered by Mazda took place this evening at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the hills of Northern California, where team owner Tracy W. Krohn of Krohn Racing qualified his No. 57 Ferrari F458 GT Le Mans (GTLM) entry in the 11th position.

With this being Tracy Krohn's first time this season taking over qualifying duties for the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the team accomplished their goal of giving him more track time to get a better feel for the blue-and-green liveried Prancing Horse.

With the two-hour combined Prototype and GTLM classes sprint race that begins Sunday afternoon, Krohn Racing is confident that their Ferrari can be competitive against the tough factory-backed GTLM field.

TRACY W. KROHN, Krohn Racing Team Owner/Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"The car felt pretty good. Most of it's me just coming up to speed because I've not been in the car for awhile. Still, it was really good the first two or three laps; I just didn't believe it. Then we lost a little bit in the entry. That last few laps, I tried to slow down, wait a lap out and to get one more flying lap, and still I was unable to force the car into the entry."

NIC JONSSON, Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"We've been working on the balance a little bit today. Tracy went out and qualified and did a very good, solid run. I can't emphasize enough that we are running in a factory series where we are the only privateers. We have to take that into consideration along with the fact we are running a 2012 spec car. The team has done a fantastic job, the car runs flawlessly without any technical issues, and Tracy did a great job. We just have to go out there tomorrow, stay out of trouble, keep it on the black surface, and I think we can have a good run."

HAYDEN BURVILL, Krohn Racing Engineer:
"We worked on the car during the day. Obviously we had a very limited amount of session time, but the setup we had to start with was actually pretty good. The job was pretty simple. It was good opportunity for Tracy to have that 15 minutes of very clear track time that we haven't had access to at any time in the two one-hour sessions we've had on today. So it was a good opportunity for him to run."
