The quartet will pilot a pair of newly gas-powered cars – Bomarito and Nunez in car #55, Miller and Long in #70 – for all 10 of the Prototype class's events in the 2016 WeatherTech United SportsCar Championship schedule.

Over the past two seasons, Mazda struggled to make the diesel SKYACTIV-D unit work in a racing application, although there was a rare highlight when it briefly led the Rolex 24 at Daytona last January. In 2016, the cars will be powered by turbocharged two-liter, four-cylinder gas-powered engines.

“We couldn’t be happier that each of our Mazda Prototype drivers return to the team for 2016,” said John Doonan, director of motorsports for Mazda North American operations. “In addition to being top-notch drivers, we couldn’t ask for a better group of gentlemen to represent the Mazda brand in the premier level of our Mazda Road to 24 sports car program.

"Each of them has a never-ending positive attitude that doesn’t waver. We expect more success on the race track this year, and we believe we have four racers who can bring those results to Mazda.”

Additional drivers for the four endurance races, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, will be revealed on the first morning of the preseason test – the Roar Before the 24 – on Friday, Jan. 8.
