Daytona Beach, Fla., January 25, 2014....After taking the 52nd Annual Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona green flag from the 15th class position, MOMO NGT Motorsport starting driver Kuba Giermaziak was able to charge through the GT Daytona (GTD) field and up to the lead on the 60th lap. Giermaziak pulled a double first stint in the MOMO NGT Porsche 911 GT America and handed the car over to team partner and driver Henrique Cisneros.
Cisneros was piloting the No. 30 MOMO entry when the race was red-flagged for an on-track incident. He drove a double stint before receiving a stop plus sixty seconds penalty for running a red light on exit. Once the penalty had been served, Cisneros handed off to Danish teammate Nicki Thiim.
"I did a double first stint, and it wasn't really very easy because we started from pretty far back. At the end of the stint, I think I managed to get to the lead and hand the car over to Henrique in the lead, which was good. I had some really scary moments out there. Some of the guys out there are driving like it's a sprint race, but it was just the start of a 24-hour race. I am happy we didn't have any contact and the car is still okay. I know there was a terrible accident, and the race was red-flagged and I just hope the guys are okay."
Henrique Cisneros, MOMO NGT Motorsport Partner/Driver, No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:
"My first stint went well. We had a lot of double yellows and had the red flag. I was in the car for over forty-five minutes without moving. It was a little frustrating because we're here to race. All in all, the car is running very well, the setup is perfect and we're in a good position. Unfortunately, I got a penalty upon exiting the pits. It was red light on exit, which I did not see, and we got a stop plus sixty seconds, which put us a lap down. Fortunately, we were able to get that lap back with the lap down wave by under double yellow, and right now we're sitting great in 12th place. Nicki is going to start pushing to get back in the Top 10, where we will hopefully be for the rest of the night."
