Sebring 12hr, Hour 1 – Shank leads overall, GTLM features BMW vs Corvette

Pla’s nearest pursuers are the Action Express duo of Dane Cameron in the #31 and Christian Fittipaldi in the #5 Chevrolet DP. These two were split by Pipo Derani’s Extreme Speed Motorsport Ligier-Honda, prior to the pit stops, but the Rolex 24 at Daytona winners currently run fourth, some five seconds behind Fittipaldi.

Fifth is currently Marc Goossens in the Visit Florida #90 Chevy DP, with Jonathan Bomarito sixth in the #55 Mazda Prototype.

In GTLM, the BMW M6s of Bill Auberlen and John Edwards initially converted their front-row starts into 1-2 in the race.

However, Antonio Garcia drove the #3 Corvette into second in the opening stint to split the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing-run Bimmers, and as the pit stops shook out, Tommy Milner vaulted forward to put the #4 Corvette at the top of the class, chased by teammate Garcia.

Dirk Werner took over the #25 BMW and now runs third, ahead of teammate Edwards.

Two Ferrari 488 GTEs are fifth and sixth in class – Daniel Serra’s Scuderia Corsa #68 entry followed by Giancarlo Fisichella’s Risi Competizione model.

The two Porsche North America 911s are seventh and 10^th, split by the two Ford GTs.

PC has JDC Miller’s #85 Oreca piloted by Misha Goikhberg at the front, with Robert Alon second in the PR1/Matihiasen Motorsport machine in second, and James French of Performance Tech Motorsports third.

GT Daytona class is dominated by Porsches, with Patrick Lindsey first (Park Place Motorsports) heading the Alex Job Racing cars of Mario Farnbacher and Cooper MacNeil.

The race fell under full-course caution at the end of the first hour as the #11 Chase Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 spun and was then trickling around the track at heavily reduced pace.
