WeatherTech Racing ready for a weekend at the Glen

WeatherTech Racing is heading to the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen to run at Watkins Glen International Raceway on June 29.

Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Leh Keen (Charleston, SC) sit second in the TUDOR Championship GTD points standings, just two out of the lead. MacNeil is coming off of a fifth place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The University of Colorado at Boulder student will be visiting The Glen for the first time. Philipp Frommenwiler (Kreuzlingen, Switzerland), who raced with the team at Sebring, will be the third driver in the No. 22 WeatherTech Racing Porsche this weekend. Teammate Keen is a regular competitor and has been in the winner's circle at the 3.7 mile, 14-turn undulating road course located in the picturesque Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

"The Glen is absolutely my most successful track," Keen said. "I have won the six hour three times and the short race. It's also probably my favorite track on the schedule. It's always nice getting up in the Finger Lakes area of New York in the summer time and getting on the high speed Watkins Glen course. I love the run up the Esses and onto the long straight and then into the Bus Stop Chicane. It's just a blast. The six hour was originally an endurance event. But with the cars and teams these days it's an all-out sprint race from the green flag. I've never been to The Glen with Alex Job so really looking forward to being at one of my factorize events with such a good team. Cooper had a hero drive at Le Mans and I know he will bring that energy to the six for us. We are two points out of the lead for the championship so it's really time to get a win and take the lead for the WeatherTech Racing team."

"I have been studying the Watkins Glen road course as well as running it on my simulator," MacNeil said. "I will get there early and do the track walk with Leh and our engineer Greg Fordahl. Both Greg and Leh have a lot of miles at The Glen from their Brumos days. They have both had success there and I am looking forward to continuing that track record. The track has a lot of history and I especially like the fast Esses and the rhythm of the Boot section from what I have seen. I am looking forward to running there for the first time this weekend."

Frommenwiler has been busy racing in Europe. "Since Sebring I have raced in four rounds in the German ADAC GT Masters with a Porsche GT3 R from Farnbacher Racing," Frommenwiler said. "Last weekend, I raced the 24 hours at the Nürburgring with Mathey-Racing, also in a Porsche GT3 R. I have been watching some videos on YouTube to learn the Watkins Glen circuit. It looks really fast with a lot of up and down sections - a bit like the Nürburgring! Leh and Cooper told me that it is really fun to drive The Glen. I hope to learn this track quite fast. I'm sure the team will help me and we can go for a good result at Watkins Glen this weekend."

Alex Job, team owner, has the team ready for six hours of racing. "We had a good test with Cooper in Indy last week," Job said. "After his successful run at Le Mans, I think he has come back a different driver. We are bringing Philipp again for the six hour, he gives us good speed and a fresh body behind the wheel. Leh has won many times at The Glen so I really like our chances heading into the race that really starts the second half of the season after the Le Mans break."

The TUDOR Championship Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 starting at 11 a.m. ET, Sunday, June 29.
