The Chennai-based driver continued his fine practice form into qualifying taking pole, having topped both the Friday sessions.
The Indian lapped in 1m43.079s, the only driver to dip into the 1m43's finishing over a second ahead of second place Anindith Reddy.
Title contender Raghul Rangaswamy finished third, mere 0.091s off Reddy's time with Sandeep Kumar fourth and Tejas Ram completing the top five.
The session was red-flagged when reigning champion and current championship leader Karthik Tharani crashed out at the start, damaging his front left.
Touring car champion Arjun Narendran was sixth ahead of former Nissan academy driver Abhinay Bikkani.
Interestingly, the times were about three seconds off last round's time, as the drivers come to grip with the new surface at MMRT.
The top 10 was rounded by Chetan Korada eighth, Anshul Shah ninth and actor/race Jai Sampath Kumar.
