Chennai IV MRF F1600: Tharani wins Race 1, Anand second after poor start

Anand had a poor getaway from pole, dropping down to fourth as the field headed into Turn 1. The Chennai-born driver managed to claw back positions, eventually finishing second.
He, however, had little answer to Tharani who had already established a comfortable up front after taking the lead of the race.
This victory - Tharani’s first since the second round - puts him seven points clear of Anand in the standings with two races to go.
Behind, Rahul Rangasamy ran in second place for the first half of the race, but fell down the order as the clock ticked down, finishing fourth.
Anindith Reddy apparently made an error on the second lap but recovered enough to take fifth at the chequered flag, dispatching Tejas Ram on the final tour.
Further back, Chetan Korada and Brad Dias finished seventh and eighth respectively, while Anshul Shah and Dhruv Dayal completed the top 10.
