Chennai MRF F1600: Reddy signs off weekend with double win
Hyderabad's Anindith Reddy registered his second MRF F1600 race win of the weekend in Chennai.
In a tough Sunday race, Reddy finished just 1.147 seconds ahead of Sandeep Kumar (Chennai).
Arya Singh (Kolkata), Tejas Ram (Chennai) and Chetan Korada (Chennai) took third, fourth and fifth places respectively in the third F1600 race of the weekend in the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship.
Pole-sitter Raghul Rangasamy and Reddy got off to fighting start and battled hard to hit the front of the pack.
There was a lot of action in the first lap and Reddy, who won the first race on Saturday, ended up taking the lead. In all this, Rangasamy ended up being last at the end of the first lap due to car problems.
It was a highly competitive race as, at the end of the second lap, Chennai's Chetan Korada had snatched the lead. He was ahead by 0.658 seconds and Sandeep Kumar was third.
After three laps, Korada and Reddy had moved away from the rest of the pack but the gap between the two remained the same.
Meanwhile, Ram had moved up to the third spot. Rangasamy, unfortunately, exited the race.
Reddy was not done yet at the Madras Motor Race Track. He began to catch up with Korada. After four laps, the gap between him and Korada had dropped to 0.394 seconds.
All the while, Ram, Sandeep and Singh were bunched up but there was not much change in their order.
At the end of the sixth lap, Reddy had caught up with Korada on the start-finish straight and was ready to attack for the lead.
Finally, Reddy did it in the seventh lap. The move had Reddy and Korada making contact but the former stayed on track, while the latter dropped down the order.
Taking the lead, Reddy stepped on the throttle and took the race by the scruff of the neck. Clearly, he was in control till the end.
