The chaos began when Pedrana Putra Minang spun at the exit of turn 3, clipping the cars of Pavan Ravishankar and Manuel Maldonado in the process.

Up ahead, polesitter Alex Karkosik retired from the lead through an uncharacteristic unforced error, while Rinus van Kalmthout knocked out Julien Falchero to cause yet another retirement.

With so many cars stranded on track, the race was red-flagged and shortened to 15 laps, with the original two laps not counted towards the final results.

After a lengthy break to remove the cars, the race restarted with Frost leading the field from pole position, as Martono and van Kalmthout followed behind.

The status quo continued till lap 10 when Frost ran wide on his own and dropped down to third, promoting Martono to the lead.

At the same time, van Kalmthout himself had an off-track moment, gifting Martono enough of an advantage to win his second ever MRF Challenge race.

Van Kalmthout was untroubled by Frost in the final third of the race and finished second, while Harri Jones and Dylan Young completed the top five.

The latter was challenged all through the race by Felipe Drugovich, but the Brazilian, who sealed the title in Race 1, was unable to find a way past and had to settle for sixth.
