Coimbatore Euro JK: Chatterjee wins after another penalty to Donison

Kush Maini kept the lead at the start of the race from Krishnaraaj Mahadik as battle brewed between Donison, Chatterjee and Anindith Reddy for third place.

While Maini fended off Mahadik, it was still close between the trio with Reddy just managing to stay ahead of the charging Donison.

All the three closed in on the lead pack midway in the race and were four abreast in the Turn 3 and Turn 4 sequence.

Surprisingly, there were no contacts as Donison took the lead from nowhere with Chatterjee right on his rear.

Maini lost four positions to drop behind Mahadik and Reddy but quickly managed to take back fourth from Reddy on the same lap.

Up ahead, Donison and Chatterjee created a good gap from Mahadik with 2015 karting champion taking the win, only to be penalised for a jump start dropping him to third.

This was the second race in a row where Donison was handed a time penalty for a jump start as Chatterjee took his first formula cars win from Mahadik.

Maini eventually was fourth with Dhruv Mohite completing the top five, having overtaken Reddy when the Hyderabad-based driver went wide approaching Turn 5.

Akhil Rabindra finished a quiet seventh ahead of Ananth Shanmugam, Ajay Kini and Mohammad Nalwalla.

Akash Gowda was the only retirement from the race.
