The Chennai man has been proving his mettle in the Indian National championships and challenging the best in the country.
After a year’s break from the Euro JK Racing, he was back in the cockpit and competing in one of India’s premier racing competitions.
The break did not seem to have affected his touch a lot. He made a clean sweep in the opening round at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. However, in the second round, it was mixed luck for the lanky driver.
The multiple former National champion is positive about the season and he is happy coming back to race in the Euro JK. “It’s superb,” he exclaimed. “The first round was especially good when I won all four races. I would have loved to continue the winning streak in the second round, but unfortunately could not.
“But yes, driving this car after a year and a half, my comeback has been better than I would have expected,” he added.
Prasad was pretty positive in the second round as well. But things could have gone a lot better. “On Saturday, things started out badly. However, I managed podium spots and a win on Sunday,” he said.
“It could have been a lot better if it wasn’t for bad luck and driving errors,” he explained.
“On Saturday, in the FB17, I had a problem with the car when I was leading. I also had car problems in the LGB F4 qualifying and ended up starting last,” he said.
Despite the tough weekend, especially in the second round, Prasad preferred to take the positives out of it. “It was definitely one of the toughest weekends, physically and mentally. But I enjoyed every race and had a good feeling,” he remarked.
It is stating the obvious, but competition is tough in the series. Prasad is, however, not perturbed. “It is quite tough because there are some really talented and competitive drivers on the grid like Anindith (Reddy) and Nayan (Chatterjee) among others. They have also been racing abroad. So, it is nice to race against them,” he noted, while adding that the aim is to win the LGB F4 and Euro JK titles this year.
While Prasad hopes to move to touring cars in Asia, the single focus remains on making a mark in the Indian scene.
