What's Mosport all about?

Mosport is all about the fans. Wednesday night prior to the event people were already lining up to get into the track, and the place is packed Thursday through Sunday. It makes for quite the atmosphere with fans lining the entire track for every on track session. Add the fans to the fact that you are driving on North America's fastest and one of the most daring Road Courses and you have yourself a winner. Everything about Mosport is hairy. With an average speed of 118 mph (190 kmh) there is little to no room for mistake. This was evident during testing when several drivers came back to the pits with nothing but a steering wheel in their hands.

Qualifying report

All practice sessions were held in the dry, but for Qualifying the track was damp. The track was drying quicker than we expected, and with a full rain set up on the car, I burned off the rain tires within just a few laps and would struggle the rest of the session. As the track continued to dry up I was unable to improve my times, and therefore dropped down to an unimpressive 13th place

Race report

The team and I quickly got over the disappointment of qualifying, and got focused for the race which would be held on a dry track. I got a decent start and gained a position off the line, and picked up a couple more spots on the first lap. Thereafter I got creative and found out that there are some unexpected passing zones at Mosport. By the half way point I had made my way up to P5, but with P4 being quite a ways up the road ahead. I pushed as hard as I could the entire 45-minute timed race, but could not gain any further ground and settled for fifth position across the line.I was more than happy to be inside the top-5 after having started further back in the pack. Mundill did an excellent job as usual in giving me a car that took the abuse and high demands of Mosport with ease.

Next event

Another race, another great race track: Road Atlanta. Home of the famed Petit Le Mans, we'll be racing alongside the American Le Mans Series event on September 25th. I raced at Road Atlanta last season in F2000, and hopefully my track knowledge will prove helpful as we head into the penultimate race of the season. We are currently sitting 7thin Overall points, but P3 through P8 are all extremely close so anything can happen. Time will show.

Best regards, Anders Krohn
