KENT WINS FROM POLE IN STAR MAZDA RACE IN CANADA
MONTREAL, Quebec (Aug. 31, 2009) -- Richard Kent started up front and stayed there, winning the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. It was the 11th round of a 13-race series for the open-wheel, road racing series.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Star Mazda program, which includes regional racing programs to compliment the international championship touring program. Goodyear supplies radial tires to the competitors for both dry and wet conditions.
Kent collected his fourth pole of the season and won from the pole position for the second time this season. Conor Daly finished second, followed by Adam Christodoulou, Peter Dempsey and Anders Krohn.
Toshihiro Deki won the Expert Class for drivers aged 30-44 and Gerry Kraut won the Masters Class for drivers aged 45 and above.
Despite finishing fourth, Dempsey continues to lead the Championship standings.
