The Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear arrived at Miller Motorsports Park this morning and World Speed Motorsports' drivers were fast right off the truck.

Taylor Hacquard posted the 2nd fastest time of the opening session in the Wolfe Auto Group #15 Pro Formula Mazda, and close behind in 3rd was his teammate Eric Freiberg in the #14 CDE Pro Formula Mazda. "While it was nice having two cars in the top three right out of the box, we know that the times will drop and we will all need to work hard the entire weekend to stay out front," noted Operations Manager Mark Milazzo. "The whole team is focused on the same goal, and it is really nice to have our 2001 champion Scott Bradley and 2006 champion Ace Carrio here working with us to achieve them. Both of these guys know what it takes to win, and to win with World Speed so we see this as an enormous advantage."

WSM driver Chris Cumming is running well and is the current Star Mazda Expert Championship points leader. Cumming is working with Standing Start coach and two time Star Series runner up Mikel Miller. The team is also running two cars in the MOLECULE Star Mazda West Coast Series. Stan Kohls and Dave House are here competing in race four of the regional series, and House is working with Standing Start coach Grant Ryley who is a multi race winner in the Star Mazda Series.

Round two of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear (which is also race four of the MOLECULE Star Mazda West Coast Series) gets serious on Saturday at 9:45am for qualifying, followed by a 45 minute race at 4:15. The tape delayed broadcast will be featured on SPEED on May 31st at 3pm Eastern. Check your local listings to verify broadcast times.
