James Hinchcliffe was involved in the only incident of the day when his No. 7 Sam Schmidt Motorsports No. 7 spun in Turn 1. His car slid down the middle of the south chute and nearly made contact with the inside wall.

Hinchcliffe said he lifted upon encountering slower traffic. When he got back on the accelerator in the middle of Turn 1, the back end let go. "I thought it was going to come around but then it started going straight, so I got on the brakes," Hinchcliffe said. "When it finally went around, I let off the brakes and steered the other way," and the car stayed off the wall.

Sarah Fisher taped an episode of the "The Price is Right" in April. The show will air on Friday with Fisher presenting a showcase featuring a trip to the Indianapolis 500.

Lauren George, the youngest daughter of Indy Racing League founder and Vision Racing co-owner Tony George, turned 18 on May 7th. George, who will be attending her 19th Indy 500 this year, is now listed as the car owner of James Davison's No. 21 Vision Racing entry.

Jay Howard has been added to the Freedom 100 field. Howard will drive the No. 37 entered by Team Palm Beach International Raceway. Howard missed the first practice session but turned 23 laps in the second session. He assembled a complete driver's kit from around the garage area. "It's a bit of borrowed equipment from everywhere," said Howard. "The helmet is Scott's (Dixon), the suit and HANS are mine from the truck. The fireproof underwear, shoes, gloves and balaclava belong to Anton Julian. I'm just happy I didn't stay out too late last night." Julian is a member of Danica Patrick's crew who races locally.

Tony George owns the Speedway, the Indy Racing League and Vision Racing. As a team owner, he exercised hands-on management on Tuesday, directing the placement of sponsor decals on the Ryan Hunter-Reay's race car.

The third annual "Rockin' on Main" will take place at 5 p.m. on Carburetion Day. Main Street in Speedway will be closed for the event. The street party features food, fun and live music. Admission is $5.

Teams have been preparing the large fuel tanks that are used only at the Indianapolis 500 by adding team and sponsor logos. The fuel tank for A.J. Foyt Racing's No. 41 entry is sporting a decal near the dead-man's valve that reads, "Please Pay Cashier Before Pumping Fuel."

Early Wednesday morning a 25-foot tall statute of Egyptian god Anubis was delivered to the Speedway and placed next to the fountain in front of the Hall of Fame Museum. Apparently Anubis was placed in the wrong spot and by 8:30 a.m. the 5 ton statute was in the process of being moved to the parking lot on the east side of the museum. Anubis, protector of the tombs, is at the Speedway to tout the King Tut exhibit that will visit the Indianapolis Childrens Museum June 27 through October 25. The King Tut exhibit is part of the sponsorship package aboard Alex Tagliani's Conquest Racing entry.
