"Inside CART," a weekly program that will take fans behind the scenes of CART, will make its debut next Tuesday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
The first show was shot on-location at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach last month. It will feature a profile of points leader and Long Beach race winner Paul Tracy, a look back at the 1999 FedEx Championship Series campaign, and reviews of the first four Champ Car races of the 2000 season.
The show's "Tech Tips" segment will feature the four engine manufacturers in the FedEx Championship Series, and there will also be reports on Mario Andretti receiving the Driver of the Century award at his home track of Nazareth Speedway. The 2000 Dayton Indy Lights and Toyota Atlantic seasons will also be highlighted in this edition of "Inside CART."
Chris Miles and Michelle Garforth will host the show, with additional reporting from Larry Henry and Bill Adam. Miles was the host of the original "Inside CART," which aired on a different network in 1998. He is actively involved in the sport of auto racing through the creation of his own company dedicated to minorities in motor sports, called Starting Grid.
Garforth is a native South African who has hosted and produced several entertainment and travel shows on national networks both in the United States and abroad. Garforth's list of credits is extensive, and she is also the host of "CART Insider," which debuted earlier this spring in Miami.
Henry is a veteran sportscaster from the Detroit area who performs play-by-play duties for Detroit Pistons radio broadcasts and preseason Detroit Lions television broadcasts. Henry can also be heard on the CART Radio Network. Adam is a former professional racecar driver and is a current test driver for Porsche. He also worked on "Inside CART" in 1998 and has covered CART for TSN and CTV in Canada, and the American Le Mans Series for NBC.
"Inside CART" is a magazine-style show that will air 25 times this year, beginning with the debut next Tuesday. The program is produced by CART with CART Vice President of Broadcasting Keith Allo serving as executive producer.
"We are really looking forward to the return of 'Inside CART,'" said Allo, who initiated the original program in 1997. "It allows fans a real, behind-the-scenes look at CART, its drivers, owners, officials, sponsors, promoters and the rest of the FedEx Championship Series community."
Fans are encouraged to send in their feedback on the show as well as questions and suggestions for upcoming shows to feedback@cart.com. Be sure to include "Inside CART" in the subject line.
