Ten more chassis for Champ Car market.

Lola Cars International Ltd today announced that they are to build ten new Champ Car chassis for the 2003 season.

With the recent announcement that Ford and Bridgestone have agreed a substantial promotional and marketing partnership with CART, Lola Cars have taken this step to satisfy the growing demand of its customers and their commercial partners.

"The very rapid strengthening of the CART series in the last few weeks has been extremely encouraging for Lola Cars," said company chairman Martin Birrane. "With the renewed confidence that has been brought about by the involvement of Ford and Bridgestone, Lola Cars will be laying down 10 more B2/00's for use in the 2003 series. Chris Pook has done some excellent work in the last year and the solid base that has been created, will, I believe, consolidate Champ Cars as the truest test of a car, engine and driver anywhere in racing."

Five of the ultra successful B2/00's, that won all but three of the nineteen races in the 2002 CART season have already been allocated to teams for the coming year. The remaining five are attracting considerable interest from existing teams as well as new teams that are looking to enter the series.

The B2/00 came in for considerable praise throughout its debut season and was used by all but three of the teams in the series by year's end. For the first time since 1993 Lola won the Constructors title as well as sealing the drivers crown for Brazilian Cristiano da Matta.

The news that Lola Cars will be supplying more chassis comes just a month after the announcement that Cosworth Racing will serve as the exclusive supplier of 2.6 litre turbocharged engines for CART over the next two years.

The 20 race 2003 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season will take place in six different countries and will be contested on short ovals, superspeedways, permanent road courses and temporary street courses and will begin on February 23rd at a new street course at St Petersburg in Florida.
