(August 26, 1998) -- Plans are proceeding for "Runway Madness" a charitable event scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 in the Lockheed Hangar at Ontario Airport in Ontario, Calif. The event, to be held two days prior to the FedEx Championship Series season finale, the Marlboro 500 Presented by Toyota at California Speedway, will benefit Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary Charities, the Championship Drivers Association and California's renowned Loma Linda Children's Hospital.

It will include appearances by FedEx Championship Series and PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship drivers, as well as celebrities from the world of entertainment. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and dinner, followed by a variety of activities, including karaoke, a floor show, runway fashions, a dunk tank and dancing. A silent auction will be held for such offbeat autographed items as Bobby Rahal's glasses, Roger Penske's jeans and Rick Mears flip-flops, among others. Chairperson is: Chris Mears (561) 575-6043 (phone) or (561) 575-6044 (fax) to make arrangements. Ticket prices and promotion/participation opportunities will be furnished on request.
