Paul Tracy 1 Indeck Forsythe Racing Lola/Ford
Paul Tracy finished the second qualifying session in the tires having tried a little too hard to improve on his 6th place time of 63.933 seconds / 140.213 mph.
"I missed my 3rd/4th gear upshifts in the early session a couple of times and that was very frustrating. Then the track went red, and so again I missed getting my quick time early like in Toronto. Second time out I was pleased to be moving up the field and I knew I could do better than 6th. That's when I had the accident -- when I was pushing hard getting ready to put in my flying lap -- just before coming up the hill and along the main straightaway to cross the start line I'd gone a touch wide in turn thirteen and put ½ a tire onto the curb entering 14 -- and that's what took me off. The car is okay, and I'll be chasing a finish right up front tomorrow".
Patrick Carpentier 7 Indeck Forsythe Racing Lola/Ford
Patrick qualified in 5th position with a lap time of 63.753 / 140.457 mph. "My Indeck Forsythe car has been a bit loose all weekend, and I think I got everything out of the race car that was possible today. I split my first tires, that is I did two half session on them because of the track going red and so I never got to use my second set -- so I'm pleased to have a brand new set of Bridgestones to use for the race tomorrow! It's always a long hard race here at Elkhart and starting in 5th place will put me well in contention".
Rodolfo Lavin 3 Corona Forsythe Racing Lola/Ford
Rodolfo qualified 10th with a time of 64.663 seconds / 139.235 mph. "My car has been pushing mid to exit all the time and we've been struggling to get rid of the understeer -- that's something we will work out and get right. Today, I missed my best lap with traffic; Bruno Junqueira I think -- but tomorrow the race will be different: with the pit stops, the length of the race and the car we have we will be good".
