Indy 500: Dreyer & Reinbold Racing day four report

DREYER & REINBOLD RACING BACK ON TRACK FOR PRACTICE FOR THE INDIANAPOLIS 500

Indianapolis, IN (May 18, 2010) - Luckily, the weather managed to stay away and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing drivers, Mike Conway (No. 24 Dad's Root Beer), Justin Wilson (No. 22 Z-Line Designs), Tomas Scheckter (No. 23 Mona Vie), and Ana Beatriz (No. 25 Ipiranga), were able to get back on track. Although practice was cancelled yesterday, the quartet managed to make good progress with their respective cars for the third day of practice for this year's 94th running of the Indianapolis 500.

At first, it seemed like the weather would keep the team from being able to run again, but fortunately the four managed to get some practice time in. The DRR drivers worked closely with the team's engineering staff to diligently chip away at the race setup and now they can gradually start to prepare the cars for this week's qualifying.

Wilson, in the No. 22 Z-Line Designs car, was the fastest of the four with a speed of 223.601 miles per hour. He logged a total of 45 laps, putting him 18th overall. Scheckter, in the No. 23 Mona Vie machine, clocked a 222.461 mph and was 28th among the 37 drivers on track. The South African driver completed 43 laps today. Conway in the No. 24 Dad's Root Beer chassis, logged 65 laps with a best of 221.854 mph, which put him in 33rd position.

Rookie Beatriz, in the No. 25 Ipiranga car, had a very successful day. After being the first rookie to complete Rookie Orientation Practice on Sunday, she was able to complete her first full practice with the entire field. The Brazilian completed 45 laps recording a top speed of 221.971 mph, making her 31st quickest for the session.

Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: "We tried a few things today, tried another set of dampers and worked on a few bits and pieces here and there. The Z-Line Designs car feels good. I'm ready to start trimming it out and go faster. It kind of tests your patience because you think it's quick and you want to go quick, but we still have race items that we need to develop and understand. In the long run, it's better to get a good read rather than get too carried away. Hopefully, before too long, we will get out there and do a qualifying run and see how we stack up."

Tomas Scheckter, No.23 Mona Vie: "The car wasn't bad at all. It was a tow fest out there and it seems like everyone is jumping in tows. It seemed when I put on a new set of tires and went out there the tows didn't come our way. That's okay because we are sticking to our program and hopefully we"ll be quick where we need to be. Justin and I got out there in the end and did some race simulation and I'm really happy with the car."

Mike Conway, No. 24 Dad's Root Beer: "Today was pretty good. The last stint that we ran we struggled with the car and found a few issues at the end of it. When we came out this afternoon we knew that was the problem that we had on that day and we cured all of it. The car was running well and we were just taking our time and trying to get a good feel for the small changes on the car. We just let the day come to us. We weren't in any rush and still have a couple of days until qualifying. Overall the Dad's Root Beer car was good and we are finding a bit more speed as we go on. We still have quite a bit more to do to get the car quicker. All in all, it was a good day and I'm really happy with the progress that we made. I have to give a big thank you to the team and I look forward to tomorrow."

Ana Beatriz, No. 25 Ipiranga: "I think the day was very productive. We tried a couple of things on the car and I always felt very comfortable and confident with the changes. We are getting better and that's very positive. The goal is to keep working for it and we can get closer to the top."
