INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 -- Multi-platinum popular rock powerhouses Everclear and Eddie Money have joined the music lineup during 2010 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race activities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Everclear will play the Coca-Cola Stage in the Speedway's Pagoda Plaza on Indianapolis Star Opening Day, Saturday, May 15, while Eddie Money will play one week later -- Pole Day, Saturday, May 22.

All musical performances are free with admission to the IMS grounds for the day.

The series of popular musical acts at IMS begins with a performance by the Gin Blossoms at the Centennial Era Balloon Festival presented by AT&T on Saturday, May 8. Opening act Red Moon will take the stage at 5:15 p.m., followed by the Gin Blossoms at 7 p.m.

429 Records recording artists Everclear will perform on Indianapolis Star Opening Day following opening act Stereo Deluxe, which takes the stage at 3 p.m. Everclear hit the national scene with the hit single "Santa Monica" off its platinum 1995 album, "Sparkle and Fade," then became internationally acclaimed music figures with their 1997 double-platinum release "So Much for the Afterglow," which spawned the hits "Everything to Everyone," "I Will Buy You a New Life" and "Father of Mine." Cincinnati-based power pop trio Psychodots will perform at 2:30 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Stage on Sunday, May 16, during the second day of Indianapolis 500 practice, and the stage will heat up again on "Fast Friday," May 21, with performances by The Elms at 1 p.m. and the Jon E. Gee Band at 3 p.m.

Eddie Money will headline Pole Day music activities at 3 p.m. following popular Indianapolis-based opening act Healing Sixes, which will play at 1 p.m.

Money struck double-platinum success in 1977 with his self-titled debut album and the hits "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise," and continued to pile up multimillion album-selling success with releases such as 1983's "No Control" and 1986's "Can't Hold Back," with iconic rock singles such as "Shakin'," "Think I'm in Love," "Take Me Home Tonight" and "I Wanna Go Back."

Military rock act Rapid Fire and Indy-based rockers No More Goodbyes will round out the pre-Race Week music with appearances at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, on Bump Day, Sunday, May 23.

Anchoring the musical entertainment at the 2010 Indianapolis 500 will be previously-announced Miller Lite Carb Day Concert performers and blues rock superstars ZZ Top, performing at 3:30 p.m. on Miller Lite Carb Day, Friday, May 28.
