Las Vegas, Nevada – October 14, 2011 – Conquest Racing’s Sebastian Saavedra qualified the No. 34 Conquest Racing/Bogota/Es Mundial/Honda/Dallara/Firestone in the 19th position for Sunday’s 200-lap IZOD IndyCar World Championships presented by Honda by turning a two lap average of 220.335mph. The strong mid-field result marks the young rookie’s best qualifying effort of the year in an oval.

The Colombian driver has quickly adapted to the tricky 1.5-mile oval in his return to the series after taking a two race hiatus. During the practice session, Saavedra posted the 24th fastest time only .2929s off the leader, showcasing the impressive competitiveness of the record 34-car starting grid for the IZOD IndyCar season finale. Today’s mid-field qualifying result is an optimistic boost for the team as they head into the final race of the year.

The Conquest crew did an impressive effort by finding the right set-up for Sebastian which allowed him to find the right pace around the track almost immediately

For the Conquest crew and the rest of the IndyCar paddock today’s qualifying session was the last time they will have their Dallara chasis in qualifying trim as they prepare to upgrade to the new car in 2012. During Sunday’s race, Saavedra and his crew will work to give their car a successful farewell and to close out the season in a high note by driving through the field and aiming for a top finish at this historic event.

There will not be a warm-up session before the main event on Sunday and teams and drivers will head straight to the race, they are scheduled to receive the green flag for the IZOD IndyCar World Championships presented by Honda this Sunday October the 16th at 3:45 PM ET. ABC and IMS Radio Network affiliates, XM Radio 94 and Sirius 212 will provide LIVE coverage of the 200-lap event.

“I am very satisfied with the positive progress we’ve show this weekend. We came incredible positive willing to finish this year the right way and I believe we are doing the right way to make this happen. 20th is our best qualifying so far on ovals and that helps our cause quite a bit, there’s still some work to do but I’m definitely looking forward to Sunday’s race.”
