INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, March 15, 2007 -- Vision Racing filed three entries March 15 for the 91st Indianapolis 500, naming veterans Tomas Scheckter, Ed Carpenter and Anthony Foyt IV as its drivers.
The 91st Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, April 4.
Scheckter, from Cape Town, South Africa, will drive the No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered.
2002 Indianapolis 500 Chase co-Rookie of the Year Scheckter will attempt to make his sixth start in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing." He finished a career-best fourth in 2003, while his career-best starting spot of 10th came in 2002 and in 2004.
Scheckter has led 148 laps in the Indianapolis 500, including 85 laps as a rookie in 2002 and 63 laps in 2003, both respective event bests.
Carpenter, from Indianapolis, will drive the No. 20 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered.
2003 Freedom 100 winner Carpenter will attempt to make his fourth consecutive Indy start. He enjoyed the strongest "500" of his career with Vision Racing in 2006, starting a personal-best 12th and tying his career-best finish of 11th, also set in 2005.
Foyt, from Hockley, Texas, will drive the No. 22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered.
2002 Indy Pro Series champion Foyt returns to Indy after a one-year hiatus in an attempt to make his fourth "500" start. His career-best finish of 18th came as a rookie in 2003, while he started a career-best 21st in 2004.
Both of those results came while driving for the team owned by his grandfather, four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt. This is the younger Foyt's first season with Vision.
Keven Kukulewicz is the chief mechanic for all three Vision entries, while Larry Curry is the team manager.
