As the Verizon IndyCar Series returns to Iowa Speedway, much has changed, but much remains the same when it comes to who's fast.

Sure, Juan Pablo Montoya and Will Power lead the charts, nothing new with Penske being on top, but behind them is another story.

Takuma Sato and Graham Rahal climbed the time sheets between the first and second sessions, with Sato leaping from 19th to fourth and Rahal jumping from 13th to seventh.  Sato went about .44 of a second faster while Rahal shaved .33 of a second off of his fastest time between the sessions.

Practice didn’t necessarily result in improvements for every driver, however.  Ryan Briscoe lost a tenth of a second and dropped from sixth to 14th in the sessions while teammate Charlie Kimball had a similar fate, losing nearly double the amount of time Briscoe lost and fell from fourth to fifteenth.

Three drivers looking for large amounts of improvement will be Jack Hawksworth, Sebastian Saavedra and Carlos Huertas, as both drivers were in the bottom five drivers of both sessions.  Hawksworth brought up the rear in the first session while Houston race winner Simon Pagenaud was slowest in the second session.

Qualifying will be held tonight and it will be single car runs.  Iowa is going away from the heat race format that was unique to the .875 mile oval during the last two years.
