Davison finishes season with top 5 at Chicagoland.

September 8th 2008 Australian Motorsport Foundation International Rising Star James Davison, finished the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Championship with a top 5 finish in the SunRichGourmet.com 100 staged at the Chicagoland Speedway.

After being in the top 5 at the end of the combined practice sessions, Davison qualified his LifeLock Sam Schmidt Motorsports Dallara 6th for the 67 lap race. At the start Davison moved to 5th ahead Daniel Herrington until the first course caution. At the restart Davison passed Michael Potekin for 4th behind team mate Ana Beatriz and the Andretti Green Racing pair of Arie Luyendyk Jr and Raphael Matos. The race witnessed some spectacular three-wide action with Davison moving as high as 3rd but at the end finishing in 5th with Luyendyk Jr winning his first race in the series after 67 starts dating back to 2002.

In summarizing the season James said "It has been a great year. I endured some bad luck and didn't secure some of the results that I deserved, however to come away from my rookie season with a pole, win and a second is fantastic. I wish to thank the AMSF and Sam Schmidt Motorsports for all their efforts this season. I look forward to returning to the series next year to apply what I have learnt and to compete for the Championship"

Over the next couple of months Davison will finalise plans for the 2009 season which will start on the Streets of St. Petersburg on April 4-5 and will also be attending the Surfers Paradise Round of the IndyCar Series in October.
