Rosenqvist to miss Lights races at Road America, Iowa

Belardi driver Felix Rosenqvist will miss the next three races on the Indy Lights schedule due to clashing commitments, it has been confirmed.

Reigning European F3 champion Rosenqvist will skip the Road America double-header on June 25-26 as he will instead be at the Norisring in his role as Mercedes' reserve driver in the DTM.

And while the Iowa Lights round does not clash with the DTM or with Rosenqvist's campaign in the Blancpain Sprint Series, the Swede's representatives have confirmed he will be "away on other commitments".

The announcement effectively ends Rosenqvist's chances of either contesting the Lights title or battling for the spot of the top rookie in the series.

“We’ve known from the outset that there was a possibility of certain clashes this season, so it’s something we’ve all been aware of and have planned for,” Rosenqvist explained.

“It’s obviously a shame to miss a number of races in the US, but I look forward to spending the weekend with Mercedes-AMG in the DTM paddock at Norisring.

"I would simultaneously like to wish Belardi Auto Racing all the best of luck at Road America; go show them how it’s done!”

The Swede, a race winner in his debut weekend in Lights at St. Pete, currently sits sixth in the standings, 65 points off leader Ed Jones.

His replacement at Belardi this weekend will be local driver James French.

The Road America round will also be without two other Lights regulars, Scott Hargrove and RC Enerson, the former being replaced by Garett Grist at Pelfrey and the latter's SPM seat going unfilled.
