After taking a debut win in the opening round in March, Alva switched from Mini 60 to the more competitive EasyKart 60 category.
Despite having to compete against far more karters due to the larger grid size, the Bangalore-based racer seemed up for the challenge, taking pole position at South Garda karting track with a time of 55.786s.
In a hard-fought race, the Birel ART-supported karter slipped to third place, but passed both Lorenzo Patrese and Adam Kowalski on the last lap to take the win.
He crossed the chequered flag just 0.633s ahead of Italy’s Patrese, with Czech driver Kowalski finishing just a tenth adrift in third.
“The first two race weekends in Easykart have been an incredible experience,” he said. “The final was hard fought and we exchanged positions until the end. We had great fun.”
Ruhaan’s father, Umakanth Alva, said: “We decided to move Ruhaan from the Mini 60 category which has just six racers to the more competitive EasyKart 60 category.
“It is important that Ruhaan learn to fight the competition keeping in mind that he is trying for the WSK Championship (World Championship) this year.”
Despite not competing in the EasyKart 60 category in the opening round, Alva holds fourth place in the standings with 28 points to his name.
Birel ART India’s team principal Marco Bartoli added: “We are very proud of Ruhaan’s win today. The top three kept swapping positions until the last lap. With one lap to go, he overtook two drivers and pulled off gap to the chequered flag. He made India very proud!”
The next round of EastKart championship takes place at Siena Circuit on May 14.
